If you’ve ever had to do business with Cole County’s Associate Circuit Court division, you know the backlog of cases it faces.
The state has okayed adding a second Associate Circuit gavel-banger to help out Judge Cotton Walker.
“I know that judges would like to have a bigger courtroom so that they can have…[with] jury selection, they need to have 100 people or 200 people so they can narrow it down, and they need to have room to do it,” Cole County Commissioner Jeff Hoelscher says.
Hoelscher says he’s not sure where the county will put the second courtroom. Work to add another courtroom has been on hold for years.
