Springfield council approves mask ordinance

Springfield is the latest Missouri community requiring people to wear masks to slow the spread of COVID-19.

The News-Leader reports the city council passed the measure by an 8-0 vote on Monday night. That came after five hours of testimony in city hall, and protests from dozens of people outside the building.

The Springfield mask order takes effect Thursday. Columbia’s mask ordinance started last Friday. The St. Louis and Kansas City areas require masks in public too.
