State certifies election win for David Tyson Smith

Columbia officially has its first Black state representative.

Missouri Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft on Tuesday certified the results of this month’s special election in the 45^th House district.

Democrat David Tyson Smith beat Libertarian Glenn Nielsen. He replaces Kip Kendrick, who left the office weeks after he was elected last November.
