State lawmaker criticizes price tag for Ceres remodel

It cost $400,000 to re-do the statue of Ceres at the Missouri Capitol building.

State Rep. Tony Lovasco says he’s heard from his constituents about the price tag.

“The issue in general is a little myopic in my mind, because the design of that entire building is an entire shrine to the false god of government.”

The restored statue of the Roman goddess of agriculture is going back up on the Capitol dome this month. The literal lightning rod has become a figurative lightning rod too. Another representative who is a Christian, Mike Moon, says it should stay down for religious reasons.
