State lawmakers pass wide-ranging justice bill

State lawmakers passed a wide-ranging justice and law enforcement reform bill on Thursday.

For example, it says police chokeholds can only be used in self-defense. Someone can now get protection orders for longer than a year, and those orders can include protections for a pet. It also includes potential raises for county sheriffs, and says the state attorney general no longer has to live in Jefferson City.
