State rep says Supreme Court should weigh in on blocked Missouri abortion law

A state rep says the court battle isn’t over regarding a Missouri abortion law.

A federal court last week blocked enforcement of the law, which bans abortions after eight weeks of pregnancy. O’Fallon Republican Rep. Nick Schroer wrote the bill in 2019.

“As an originalist, I would think that this Supreme Court should kick this back to the states and allow these states to legislate this topic as they deem necessary,” said Schroer in an interview with KFTK in St. Louis.

Schroer said courts in Ohio, Indiana and other states have had conflicting opinions on similar laws.

Attorney General Eric Schmitt has said he will make appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court.
