State sees largest single-day coronavirus case increase; Boone County reports 34 more cases

Missouri shatters its previous record for single-day coronavirus cases.

State officials reported 773 new cases Tuesday, but said reporting delays over the holiday weekend helped cause the high number. The old record was 553 cases on June 25. The state also added 14 more COVID-19 deaths, for a total of 1,042.

Boone County came close to setting a record Tuesday with 33 new cases confirmed. The daily high is 39 cases on July 2. There are now 190 active cases in the county.

Saline County saw a big jump Tuesday too, with 14 new positives confirmed.

Three new cases were confirmed in Cole County. Two cases were added in Moniteau County.
