Officials in the fast-growing Southern Boone R-1 school district in Ashland say a recent fish fry and the generosity of several organizations has raised more than $13,000 to reduce the outstanding student meal balance in the district.

Southern Boone R-1 superintendent Dr. Tim Roth says the money was raised during April’s fish fry fundraiser and from community donations as well. The district praises Ashland’s Masonic Lodge #156, the Ashland Chapter Order of the Eastern Star and the Masonic Home of Missouri for their assistance. Superintendent Roth calls it an incredible donation and a testament to the generous spirit of the Ashland community.
