A police shooting in south Columbia leads to the death of a suspect.

Officers say Curtis Haas, 34, who was wanted on a child molestation charge, tried to barricade himself in his home on Sun Court. Police got there around 5 p.m. Thursday night, closing off Rock Quarry and a portion of Grindstone.

Haas started shooting at the officers, who returned fire. After an hour, police forced their way in and found Haas dead.

It is unknown whether Haas killed himself or if he died from police gunfire.
