Suspect in Columbia double homicide in court today

Boone County prosecutors have charged 51-year-old Randall Fox with two counts of second degree murder (May 2024 mug shot courtesy of the Boone County Sheriff’s Department website)

Columbia Police say the two women who were found shot to death earlier this month in a home’s closet have been identified as 77-year-old Marcia Hess and 50-year-old Sara Fox, both of Columbia.

Marcia Hess was Sara Fox’s mother.

Boone County prosecutors have charged 51-year-old Randall Fox of Columbia with two counts of second degree murder and three other felonies. Randall Fox, who remains jailed without bond in Boone County, will make his next court appearance today at 1 before Judge Kimberly Shaw. The Columbia Police Department’s redacted four-page probable cause statement says the victims’ bodies were found in a closet, and that both victims were shot to death. One of the victims was shot multiple times, according to court documents.
