The union representing Columbia Public Schools teachers is suing the district over what it calls “bad-faith negotiations” this year.
CPS wants the Columbia Missouri National Education Association to go through a state certification process to collectively bargain for teachers. The union says that requirement is impossible for it to do legally.
A judge has put a temporary hold on a 2018 state law requiring that certification process for unions like the one for CPS teachers.
