A town hall meeting will take place from 7-8 Thursday night at the Sports Fieldhouse on Philips Farm Road. Police, firefighters and council members will present information about Proposition One, followed by a question and answer session.

The city has launched a new website aimed at providing residents with detailed information on Proposition One. That website is Oneforsafety.org.

Columbia city manager De’Carlon Seewood has told 939 the Eagle that if voters approve Proposition 1, $38-million would be generated annually and that there would be 50 additional police officers and 40 additional firefighters over four years. There are also plans for two new fire stations and a new police station.

Mr. Seewood says public safety is one of the most important services the city provides and that residents deserve clear information.

What’s next: Thursday night is the first of six town hall meetings. One will take place in each of Columbia’s six wards. Click here to find the full schedule.
