(AP) – The Raptors are planning a parade in Toronto on Monday to celebrate their first NBA title.
They beat two-time defending champion Golden State Thursday night in Oakland, giving Canada its first major sports championship in 26 years.
Game 6 of the NBA Finals was the most-watched NBA game in Canadian television history. The NBA says Thursday night’s title-clinching victory by the Raptors over Golden State had an average viewership of about 8 million.
The league says 56% of the Canadian population watched at least some part of the NBA Finals, and each game in the series ranks among the 10 most-watched television programs in Canada so far this year.
