Trapp supports Columbia West Area development

Is it time for Columbia to “jump the Perche?”

City of Columbia and Boone County officials are looking at the best way to develop the west side of Columbia, west of Perche Creek near Gillespie Bridge Road.

City councilman Michael Trapp says he wants to see rural clusters of mixed-income housing, while still protecting some of the farm land.

“There’s a lot of people who think we can stop development at [Perche Creek], that we can keep that rural area, rural, and we’ll never see development around Midway. But that’s just not the case.”

Trapp says he does not want Columbia to get stuck like St. Louis, with small bedroom communities blocking growth.

Trapp joined the new Inside Columbia Show, Saturday mornings at 7:00 on 93.9 The Eagle.
