A truck driver who’s charged with involuntary manslaughter for the December I-70 death of a high-ranking Boone County fire department employee will appear in court in Columbia on Monday.

64-year-old Kevin Brunson of Kansas City was released from the Boone County jail on his own recognizance in late March, after posting bond.

Brunson has pleaded not guilty in the December 22 crash that killed Boone County Fire Protection District assistant chief Bryant Gladney.

The deadly collision happened at the 135-mile marker, just east of Columbia. Missouri state troopers say an ambulance and Gladney’s vehicles had their emergency lights activated, when they were struck by Brunson’s tractor trailer that morning. The Patrol’s crash report says the truck driver failed to slow.
