UM Board of Curators extends indoor mask mandate

You’ll need to continue to wear a mask if you’re in a UM System classroom. The UM Board of Curators voted 5-4 late Monday afternoon to extend the indoor mask mandate on all four campuses, through October 15.

Those four campuses are Mizzou in Columbia, along with UM campuses in St. Louis, Kansas City and Rolla.

The vote extends the policy that took effect in August: it requires all students, faculty, staff and visitors to wear masks in classrooms and in meeting spaces where social distancing isn’t possible. That’s regardless of vaccination status.

UM Board of Curators chair Darryl Chatman says the extension allows more time to ensure that case rates remain low.

UM System President Dr. Mun Choi says cases are low on the four campuses, and praises the Board’s vote as well.
