The UM Board of Curators’ student representative has died in a vehicle crash.

Board chair Darryl Chatman announced the death of Remington Williams, describing him as an outstanding individual and a tremendous asset to the curators.

“He was actively engaged with the students at each of our four universities and worked to amplify their successes, promote their stories and ensure their concerns were heard. Remington was the best of us, and our thoughts are with his family and friends,” Chatman says, in a statement.

UM System President Dr. Mun Choi says Remington was committed to ensuring that all students had the opportunity to receive an excellent education. President Choi says Remington was deeply connected to his fellow students and advocated for their interests.

Williams graduated from UMKC’s law school. He was appointed by Governor Mike Parson (R) in July 2020.
