UPDATE: UM Curators reject mask orders

UPDATE: The UM Board of Curators has voted to reject two proposed mask orders. The votes came during Tuesday morning’s board meeting. Our news partner ABC-17 reports the first proposal was voted down 6-3, while the second one failed on a 7-2 vote.

HERE IS OUR ORIGINAL STORY:

The UM Board of Curators will be discussing COVID protocols on Tuesday morning.

The board meets at 8 am. COVID protocols are the only agenda item today, and masks are expected to be discussed.

The board did have an indoor mask mandate on all four campuses for part of last year. Those four campuses are Mizzou in Columbia, along with UM campuses in St. Louis, Kansas City and Rolla.

That plan required all students, faculty, staff and visitors to wear masks in classrooms and in meeting spaces where social distancing wasn’t possible, regardless of vaccination status.
