A former Mizzou medical student is suing the university and several faculty members in Boone County Circuit Court, alleging she was wrongfully expelled after being accused of improperly accessing confidential patient records.

939 the Eagle’s Mike Murphy, who publishes Comobuzz, reports Caitlyn Smith has filed a 46-page lawsuit, which says her dismissal was part of a coordinated effort to harassment, defamation and retaliation by university officials. Smith’s lawsuit says the charges were false. Smith’s lawsuit names the UM Board of Curators and seven people in their personal capacities.

Smith is represented by a New Jersey-based law group. You can read Mike Murphy’s more detailed Comobuz story here.
