Columbia Public Works crews are urging you to be aware of freezing rain heading for the area this morning, along with snow in a few hours.

A 37-person Columbia Public Works plow crew reported for duty at 5 this morning, and they’re focusing primarily on treating first and second priority roads. Examples are Broadway, Providence, Vandiver and Worley.

Columbia Public Works urges you to drive slowly today. They also remind you that whenever Columbia receives more than two inches of snow, any vehicle parked on a designated snow route must be moved or risk a fine of $100, along with towing and storage charges.

Columbia Police are urging you to use extreme caution today, if travel is necessary.

Columbia currently maintains 1,418 total lane miles, and 691 priority lane miles. The city’s aim for snowfall between six and ten inches is to have first priority streets to be near normal within 24-36 hours of the event’s end. You can find more here.
