Boone County Joint Communications reports 911 phone service is currently unavailable in Columbia/Boone County. It is also out in Jefferson City and much of mid-Missouri.

Joint Communications says the phone service disruption is impacting 911 calls into the communications center. Boone County Joint Communications says the disruption has been caused by Brightspeed, adding that Brightspeed technicians are actively working to repair the issue.

There is no estimated timeline for full restoration now. Joint Communications encourages anyone who needs emergency assistance to call 311 for police, fire or medical emergencies.
