Boone County Sheriff’s deputies say the female suspect who led deputies on Thursday morning’s high speed pursuit on I-70 across Columbia and near the Midway exit has been pronounced dead, after colliding with a semi and being ejected.

Boone County Sheriff’s Captain Brian Leer tells 939 the Eagle that the vehicle she was driving is somehow connected to a homicide in Colorado Springs.

Captain Leer says the incident began this morning near I-70 and St. Charles road, when a license plate reader detected a stolen vehicle. He says a deputy pulled the vehicle over and that the female driver told her she has a suspended license. Captain Leer tells 939 the Eagle that the deputy tried to remove her from the vehicle when she took off and the pursuit began. Captain Leer tells 939 the Eagle that the unidentified woman allegedly threw items out of the window during the pursuit. He says she then took the Midway exit and tried to cut through grass near the eastbound I-70 ramp, then collided with a semi and was ejected. She was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Captain Leer does not believe she’s a local woman, and she has yet to be identified. The horrific crash tied up traffic on busy eastbound I-70 at the 122-mile marker.
