Columbia-based Boone Electric Cooperative has sent a second ten-man crew to hurricane-damaged Baton Rouge, to replace the first crew that was sent immediately following Hurricane Ida.
The second crew has arrived in Baton Rouge, and is assisting DEMCO Electric Cooperative. They’re working to restore power to about 19,000 residents, down from 29,000 on Wednesday.
They’re replacing poles and restringing lines. They’ve been putting in 16-hour days at times, working in excessive heat and tough conditions.
