Callaway County authorities say they’ve solved a high-profile cold case murder that happened more than 21 years ago.

A Callaway County grand jury has indicted 64-year-old Harold Eugene Dickens of Auxvasse for first degree murder for the April 2002 stabbing death of his wife Debra. Dickens will appear for his initial arraignment at 8:30 this (Friday) morning before Judge Christopher Wilson at the Callaway County Justice Center in Fulton. He’s jailed without bond.

The 2002 killing of Debra Dickens received major news media coverage at the time. Our news partner KMIZ reports court documents show Debra Dickens had filed for divorce from her husband in March 2002, one month before she was murdered.

Callaway County prosecutor Ben Miller recently presented the case to the grand jury, which handed down a sealed indictment. The indictment was unsealed as soon as Harold Dickens was arrested.

Dickens also has ties to Williamsburg, according to online court records.
