UPDATE: Charges filed against alleged driver in Columbia hit-and-run involving a pedestrian

Columbia Police are crediting Flock safety cameras for locating the two suspects who have been arrested for Friday night’s deadly hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian near East St. Charles road and Remm drive, near the Jolly’s gas station.

Boone County prosecutor Roger Johnson tells 939 the Eagle that he’s charged the alleged driver, 53-year-old Shunta Bohanon of Columbia, with involuntary manslaughter, leaving the scene of an accident, armed criminal action and tampering with physical evidence.

Prosecutor Johnson notes 55-year-old Sandra Sharp of Columbia bonded out of jail this weekend and has been given a court return date of September 10. Prosecutor Johnson tells 939 the Eagle that his office will review and will make a charging decision on her referred charges before that return date. CPD is seeking tampering with physical evidence, resisting arrest and other charges against her.

Columbia Police have identified the pedestrian who was struck and killed as 47-year-old Mark Hunter Jr. of Columbia. Mr. Hunter was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
