Court documents say the 36-year-old woman who was shot in downtown Columbia this weekend near North 8th and Walnut was shot in the back and that the bullet exited out the right side of her chest.

Columbia Police say she is now reportedly in stable condition at a local hospital.

Boone County prosecutors have charged 28-year-old Demarquen Allen of Columbia with two felonies: armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon. Charges are under review for a second man who was arrested: 23-year-old Iseah Jackson of Columbia. Online records from the Missouri Department of Corrections show Jackson is currently on parole for involuntary manslaughter.

The Columbia Police Department’s probable cause statement quotes Allen as telling police that he was standing in the alley behind the Reign Bar when he heard people arguing and that “everyone started shooting.”

The court documents say Allen has “active alerts in the Columbia police Department’s record system” for being armed and dangerous and for being a drug dealer. A court motion from Boone County prosecutors describes Allen as a flight risk.
