Columbia Police say the three-year-old child who was shot in the torso Sunday afternoon in north Columbia has died at an area hospital.

Columbia Police are seeking second degree murder charges this morning against 28-year-old Larry Brownlee, who has a criminal record. Brownlee has not been captured, and authorities are urging you to not approach him if you see him.

CPD investigators say a shots fired call came out at about 2:15 pm Sunday near Leeway and Blue Ridge, which is north of the Paris road Gerbes. Columbia Police say the occupants of the vehicle that crashed shortly after that were the child, the child’s mother and an adult male. CPD says the adults were rushing the child to the fire station when the vehicle crashed. Columbia Police transported the child to an area hospital, and a citizen transported the two adults to the hospital.

Anyone with information on the incident should call Columbia Crimestoppers at (573) 875-TIPS. Your identity will be protected.
