Boone County prosecutors have charged 36-year-old Alexis Gonzalez with first degree assault and two other felonies for the shooting at the restaurant on East Nifong, which remains closed.

Gonzalez, who is currently jailed without bond, appeared in Boone County Circuit Court via video for his initial arraignment on Monday afternoon. 939 the Eagle News was in the courtroom for the hearing. Gonzalez tells Judge Stephanie Morrell that he wants a bond reduction, saying he will show up for future court appearances. Gonzalez tells Judge Morrell that he works in health care and travels around the country. He also has ties to Orlando, Florida.

Court documents say Gonzalez allegedly “shot a man in the face over an unpaid bar tab while intoxicated.” Columbia Police say the adult male victim suffered serious injuries, and CPD’s heavily-redacted three-page probable cause statement says the victim may lose sight in one eye as a result of the gunshot. It’s unclear if the victim is a Buffalo Wild Wings employee or a customer, due to the court documents being so redacted.

Buffalo Wild Wings remains closed this (Tuesday) morning. The court has denied bond for Gonzalez, describing him as a danger to the community. CPD’s investigation is ongoing: they encourage anyone with information to call Crimestoppers at (573) 875-TIPS. Your identity will be protected.
