41 Columbia Fire Department (CFD) personnel responded to the fire at McNally’s Pub, which is on North Sixth in the heart of downtown. The fire started at about 9 am and CFD spokeswoman Katherine Rodriguez tells 939 the Eagle that the building was secure when firefighters arrived. Firefighters forced entry to gain access and some crawled on their hands and knees in low-visibility conditions to search for potential victims. There were no injuries, according to CFD.

Columbia battalion chiefs issued a second alarm for additional fire companies, due to the heat and McNally’s proximity to buildings downtown. CFD says the fire was contained to the kitchen area.

Rodriguez says the Columbia Fire Marshall battalion is currently investigating to determine what caused the fire.
