UPDATE: Columbia lineman shocked this week thankful for prayers from all over country

Family members of a Columbia lineman who was severely injured after being shocked on a pole Monday night are thanking the community for their prayers and support.

A gofundme for Columbia lineman Kody Kile, his wife Lauren and their three children has now raised more than $66,000. Mr. Kile was electrocuted while responding to an outage and remains hospitalized in the burn unit at St. John’s Mercy in St. Louis. Mr. Kile’s father-in-law, First State Community Bank president Joe Miller, tells 939 the Eagle that they’ve received prayers, support and calls from all over the country, including from injured linemen and foundations that help them. Mr. Miller also says people have reached out and are mowing the Kile’s lawn, with his family at the burn unit. Mr. Miller describes the outpouring of support as inspiring, adding that Kody had a great night last night and is alert.

Kody Kile faces a long road of recovery ahead and will undergo multiple surgeries. You can also drop off checks at any First State Community Bank.

City of Columbia Utilities spokesman Jason West tells 939 the Eagle a pair of linemen were injured Monday night. The second lineman was injured while lowering Mr. Kile from the pole.
