Court documents say a weekend homicide just outside the Columbia city limits involves domestic violence.

Boone County prosecutors have charged 26-year-old Isaiah Goins with second degree murder and armed criminal action for Saturday night’s shooting death of MG, who is identified in court documents at Goins’ romantic partner.

The Boone County Sheriff Department’s probable cause statement says the incident happened at about 11:40 Saturday night on North Lake of the Woods road, during a heated argument. The court documents allege that Goins was upset with the victim and believed she was being unfaithful in the relationship. The court documents say the two argued in a vehicle while the victim, identified only as MG, drove and told Goins to get out of her vehicle. Court documents quote Goins as telling deputies that he then exited the vehicle and fired two shots. The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the torso and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The court documents say MG’s phone was collected and analyzed after the shooting, and that detectives learned MG had been in communication with Goins all day Saturday. Court documents also say sheriff’s deputies served a search warrant at Goins’ home Sunday and recovered the gun. Goins lived at the Links on Clark lane, according to online court records.

He’s currently jailed without bond.
