A man with convictions in multiple states is charged with threatening to kill a former Columbia Police detective who arrested him years ago for furnishing pornographic material.

Boone County prosecutors have charged 27-year-old Eugy Ngassi-Koumou with two felonies: first degree harassment and terrorist threat. The former CPD detective arrested the suspect a decade ago, and court documents say Ngassi-Koumou is upset with the arrest being on his background checks. The suspect is accused of calling into Joint Communications and threatening the former detective, who is now an officer. The Columbia Police Department’s two-page probable cause statement says Ngassi-Koumou is recorded on the call saying: “I am literally promising you, I am literally giving you a death threat under the military pressures I am facing right now.”
Court documents also say the Columbia officer has had to take steps to secure his family, based on the threat.
