Columbia Police and the U.S. Marshals are actively searching for a murder suspect who’s wanted in connection with the May 2023 killing of Melvin Hooker III outside of the now-closed Plush Lounge on the Business Loop.
Hooker was killed in the high-profile incident, while five others were wounded.
Columbia Police officer Jenny Hopper says CPD is searching for 41-year-old Justin Lamarr Simpson, whose last know address was at Columbia’s Links apartments. Officer Hopper tells 939 the Eagle that this is on ongoing investigation. Simpson, a convicted felon, is charged with second degree murder, two counts of armed criminal action and two other felonies. He’s not allowed to have a gun, under the law.
