UPDATE: Columbia Public Works urging motorists to stay off the roads if possible

Columbia Public Works has a 24-person snowplow crew on duty on this Monday morning.

They may add more resources and crews as needed. Public Works spokesman John Ogan says drivers are focusing on priority routes, which include major residential and arterial streets. Crews are also asking residents with Monday trash pickup to place roll carts off the street and near the edge of the sidewalk if possible.

They are also urging you to slow down and to allow extra time for stopping.
