A Florida man charged with shooting a man in the face in August at Columbia’s busy Buffalo Wild Wings will be arraigned on Monday morning.
Boone County prosecutors have charged 37-year-old Alexis Alberto Gonzalez with three felonies: first degree assault, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon. Gonzalez is scheduled to be arraigned Monday morning at 8:30 before Judge Benjamin Miller at the Boone County Courthouse.
Gonzalez remains jailed without bond, but defense attorney Jeffery Hilbrenner has filed a motion for a bond reduction.
The shooting happened on August 17 at Buffalo Wild Wings on Columbia’s Grindstone Parkway. Gonzalez is from Orlando, Florida. Court documents allege the suspect allegedly “shot a man in the face over an unpaid bar tab while intoxicated.”
The Columbia Police Department’s heavily-redacted three-page probable cause statement says the victim may lose sight in one eye as a result of the gunshot. Graphic court documents say that the suspect allegedly pointed a gun at a woman’s head before the shooting and said “I am going to kill that MF, don’t you lie.” The court documents quote Gonzalez as saying the victim hit his girlfriend.
It’s unclear if the victim was an employee at Buffalo Wild Wings or an employee.
