Boone County prosecutor Roger Johnson tells 939 the Eagle that he’s charged 36-year-old Alexis Gonzalez with first degree assault, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon.

The shooting happened at about 11:55 on Saturday night, and Gonzalez remains jailed without bond this morning. He will be arraigned at 1 pm this afternoon before Judge Tracy Gonzalez in Boone County Circuit Court. While CPD says Gonzalez is from Columbia, the Boone County jail roster lists his address as Orlando, Florida.

Court documents say the suspect allegedly “shot a man in the face over an unpaid bar tab while intoxicated.” The Columbia Police Department’s heavily-redacted three-page probable cause statement says the victim may lose sight in one eye as a result of the gunshot. Graphic court documents say that after the suspect allegedly pointed a gun at a woman’s head before the shooting and said “I am going to kill that MF, don’t you lie.” The court documents quote Gonzalez as saying the victim hit his girlfriend, before the shooting. The Boone County Circuit Court has denied bond for Gonzalez, describing him as a danger to the community.

It’s unclear if the victim was an employee at Buffalo Wild Wings or a customer.

Buffalo Wild Wings remains closed this afternoon. It’s been closed since the shooting. CPD’s investigation is ongoing: they encourage anyone with information to call Crimestoppers at (573) 875-TIPS.
