CPD says officers arrested 44-year-old David Adams and 37-year-old Julius Cureton of Columbia on Thursday. CPD is seeking second degree murder, first degree robbery and other charges against Adams and Cureton for the brutal December 2017 killing of Augustus Roberts, who was pistol-whipped and shot to death at a home on Lasso Circle in Old Hawthorne.

Columbia Police believe the home invasion was drug-related and that the home was targeted by the suspects. A woman who was inside the home before Roberts was killed was able to run out of the house and says the three suspects wore ski masks and demanded money and property.

One suspect has previously been charged with second degree murder in the case. 33-year-old Jeffrey McWilliams, the former owner of McLank’s on Paris road who was once featured on the “Food Network”, is represented by prominent St. Louis defense attorney Scott Rosenblum.
