Columbia Police have detained a juvenile and are asking the public for additional information, after a weekend incident where three people, including the juvenile suspect, were shot at the Greens apartments on Clark lane.
Columbia Police say the two victims and the juvenile suffered non-life threatening gunshot wounds. CPD investigators say the juvenile allegedly tried to rob two people Saturday evening at about 8:20 in the 4800 block of Clark lane. While CPD has not identified a specific location where the incident happened, our news partner KMIZ says it occurred at the Greens just north of I-70.
CPD’s Facebook post says the juvenile tried to commit a robbery and then fired shots at a vehicle occupied by two adult males. Both were shot and transported to a local hospital. CPD says they later learned that the juvenile suspect was taken by personal vehicle to a local hospital.
A woman who lives at the Greens had just returned home from grocery shopping when the shooting happened. The woman tells ABC-17’s Euphenie Andre from our news partner KMIZ that she heard five gunshots, as she was getting groceries out of her vehicle. The woman says she heard people screaming and ran behind vehicles and got to the ground.
939 the Eagle News reached out to CPD spokeswoman Jenny Hopper on Sunday afternoon, and Ms. Hopper told us they have nothing new at this time. Saturday night’s shooting remains under investigation. Anyone with information is urged to call Crimestoppers at (573) 875-TIPS. You can call that number anonymously.
