Columbia Police have identified the seven people arrested for this weekend’s chaotic fights downtown near Ninth and East Walnut.
Six of the seven are from Columbia and they range in age from 18 to 57.
The fights started Sunday morning at about 1:30. One of the seven arrested, 21-year-old Tinoz’shia Harris of Columbia, is accused of assaulting a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest. 18-year-old Deasia Houston of Columbia also allegedly resisted arrest. A 57-year-old Kansas City man was arrested on an outstanding warrant and the others were arrested for fighting.
Police say the officer who was assaulted was struck in the head and did not go to the hospital.
CPD also says several of the seven arrested were exposed to pepper spray and that medical personnel assisted with decontamination at CPD. Police say all seven declined additional medical treatment.
CPD policy requires every use of force by officers to be reviewed through the chain of command and Columbia Police say a thorough review has started. That will include body-worn camera and in-car camera footage and available reports.
