Columbia Police say one of the three people shot Sunday night at the Greens apartments on Clark Lane has died.
CPD has identified the woman as 21-year-old Brianna Hawkins of Fulton, who died at a hospital. CPD is seeking first degree murder and numerous other felony charges against 23-year-old James Lamont Caldwell Jr. of Fulton. He has a criminal record, according to Columbia Police.
CPD says the triple shooting happened at the Greens at about 9 pm Sunday. The other two victims have suffered life-threatening injuries and remain hospitalized.
Police chief Jill Schlude was at the scene last night, telling reporters that it’s unclear if the three were shot in the Greens parking lot or inside an apartment. Chief Schlude says Boone County Sheriff’s deputies, Missouri state troopers, Ashland and Hallsville police and MUPD officers all responded to the crime scene. She encourages residents at the Greens who have doorbell cameras to check them, and to share any footage that would help police with the investigation.
