A local man charged with shooting two people in downtown Columbia in April and with firing his gun Thursday on Clark lane is jailed without bond.
Court documents filed by Boone County prosecutors describe 23-year-old Joshua Abrams of Columbia as a flight risk. Abrams is charged with first degree assault, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon for the April 13 double shooting in the 900 block of East Broadway. The Columbia Police Department’s probable cause statement says Abrams allegedly fired his gun into a crowd of people in the downtown area, and that two people were struck.
Boone County prosecutors have also charged Abrams with armed criminal action, driving while intoxicated and two other felonies for Thursday’s shots fired incident at the Greens apartments on Clark lane. Court documents say Abrams had been drinking at El Jimador before the shots fired incident and that he then crashed a Ford SUV into the Hominy Branch creek. There were no injuries in the incident at the Greens.
Columbia Police say their investigation into both incidents continues. Anyone with information is encouraged to call Columbia Crimestoppers at (573) 875-TIPS.
