A former English teacher at Columbia’s West Middle school is jailed without bond this (Thursday) morning, charged with three counts of statutory sodomy and four other felonies involving a 15-year-old girl.
Columbia Police say 38-year-old Zachary Todd Hutchinson was arrested without incident on Thursday and CPD says the investigation from their Criminal Investigations Division special victims unit continues. Court documents say that the alleged crimes happened this month between January 4 and January 15, when Hutchinson was employed by Columbia Public Schools (CPS).
CPD’s probable cause statement quotes Hutchinson as saying he teaches English to students who are entering the country who do not know English. Anyone with information about Zachary Hutchinson should call Columbia Crimestoppers at (573) 875-TIPS.
Boone County prosecutors believe Hutchinson is a flight risk.
