A former Columbia Hickman baseball and football star who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) has been convicted on two charges in Boone County Circuit Court.

Our news partner ABC-17 reports the jury has convicted former MLB player Blake Tekotte of second degree domestic assault and kidnapping. Sentencing will take place in August.

939 the Eagle’s Mike Murphy quotes Boone County prosecutors as saying Tekotte slammed the woman against a wall, choked her and tried to keep her from leaving. The defense cast doubt on the woman’s claims, saying she later sent him a marriage proposal and other affectionate texts.

The 37-year-old Tekotte was a star at Hickman and for the Miami Hurricanes baseball program. He’s also charged with felony kidnapping for an alleged unrelated incident this past Valentine’s Day in Columbia.
