UPDATE: Heavy damage at north Columbia duplex after overnight blaze

No injuries are reported after an early-morning fire at a north Columbia duplex. Columbia firefighters say they were called to the 2800 block of Mulberry road at about 1:50 this morning, and found a single-story duplex with heavy flames showing. CFD investigators say it took 15 minutes to extinguish the fire.

23 fire personnel responded to the fire-damaged duplex, which is near Paris road and Lee’s Famous Recipe Chicken. 939 the Eagle News called CPD spokeswoman Katherine Rodriguez this morning to see if they had a damage estimate amount. They do not have one yet.

The Columbia Fire Marshal’s office is still investigating and hasn’t determined a cause at this time.
