The Central Missouri Humane Society says it has received an overwhelming response from potential adopters in the area, after a box of puppies were dropped off Monday night in subfreezing temperatures outside their Columbia building.

Central Missouri Humane Society spokeswoman Michelle Casey tells 939 the Eagle that the four puppies should be available for adoption on Tuesday, which is January 28. Ms. Casey says the pups are doing well, adding they will have no trouble finding homes for them.

The Humane Society posted a photo of the puppies on Facebook this week, saying that someone pulled behind an employee’s vehicle outside the building, dropped the box and sped away. They’re pleading with the public not to dump animals, noting it was 15 degrees Monday night. The Humane Society says if they hadn’t found the puppies immediately, they may not have survived.

Anyone interested in adopting the puppies is urged to call the Central Missouri Humane Society in Columbia. You can reach them by phone at (573) 443-7387.
