UPDATE: JCPD identifies burglary suspect shot and killed Friday

The burglary suspect who was shot and killed by Jefferson City police on Friday afternoon has been identified as 53-year-old Julie Knehans of Jefferson City.

Jefferson City Police say the suspect was armed. Jefferson City Police Captain Dave Williams says the officers involved in Friday’s incident have been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s investigation and a JCPD internal administrative review.

Friday afternoon’s incident happened in the 200 block of Gordon Street, according to JCPD. Jefferson City Police say officers responded to a burglary in progress and encountered an armed suspect inside the residence.

Missouri State Highway Patrol Captain Scott White tells 939 the Eagle that the Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control (DDCC) is investigating the incident.
