The Cole County court describes a Jefferson City motorist charged with involuntary manslaughter for Friday night’s deadly collision with a scooter operator on Highway 50 as a flight risk and “a danger to the community.”
Cole County prosecutors have charged 32-year-old Jervontaye Warmack with involuntary manslaughter and two felony counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Warmack was arraigned Monday via video from the Cole County jail and pleaded not guilty. Online court records indicate Warmack wants to hire a private attorney.

The Jefferson City Police Department’s three-page probable cause statement alleges that Warmack was under the influence of cannabis and was unable to operate a vehicle safely, when the Halloween night crash occurred. Court documents quote the JCPD officer as saying Warmack “had glassy, bloodshot eyes and had a blank stare” after the crash, saying the officer also detected the odor of marijuana emitting from Warmack’s clothing. The court documents say Warmack giggled when police performed field sobriety tests and that his speech was mumbled.
The Jefferson City Police Department’s probable cause statement says Warmack had an active failure to appear warrant for felony fleeing and resisting arrest, when the deadly collision occurred.
