939 the Eagle News was at the Boone County Courthouse in February, when 25-year-old Collin Knight pleaded guilty to second degree murder. Boone County assistant prosecutor Susan Boresi amended the charges that day, dropping first degree murder and armed criminal action charges. Prosecutor Boresi tells 939 the Eagle that she expects Knight’s July 18 sentencing to go most, if not all day.

Collin Knight admitted in open court in February that he stabbed his father to death. He displayed little emotion in court that day, as he sat next to defense attorney Christopher Slusher.

Boone County Circuit Judge Joshua Calvin Devine will sentence Knight. The range for punishment for second degree murder in Missouri is between ten years and life, which is calculated at 30 years. Judge Devine is also expected to revoke Knight’s probation on two 2019 convictions for felony domestic assault.
