A manhunt has been underway overnight in mid-Missouri’s Glasgow for additional suspects in Sunday night’s deadly shooting near East Broadway and Old 63.
Our news partner ABC-17 has been in Glasgow all night and quotes the police chief as saying suspects in the Columbia homicide are still at large. Numerous law enforcement agencies, including CPD and the Missouri State Highway Patrol, are in Glasgow.
CPD has arrested a juvenile for second degree murder for Sunday night’s shooting death of an 18-year-old male near East Broadway and Old Highway 63. CPD investigators say 18-year-old Zarian Simpson of Columbia suffered a gunshot wound and was treated on-scene by paramedics before being transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where he later died. The shooting happened at about 8 pm Sunday. CPD detectives say they’ve arrested a juvenile on charges of second degree murder, first degree robbery and two other charges. The juvenile suspect’s name is a closed record under state law, unless the juvenile is later certified as an adult.
The homicide happened at the Eastgate apartment complex. CPD’s investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is encouraged to call Columbia Crimestoppers at (573) 875-TIPS.
