Two Columbia firefighters have been evaluated for heat-realated illnesses, after Tuesday afternoon’s fire at the McDonald’s in the 200 block of South Providence road.
Columbia fire chief Brian Schaeffer told 939 the Eagle Wednesday afternoon that CFD is still working to determine the cause of the fire.
Columbia Fire Department (CFD) spokeswoman Skyler Clark says CFD crews arrived quickly to find smoke and flames showing from the single-story McDonalds. 939 the Eagle’s Peter Thiele reports that McDonald’s remains closed.
Columbia fire department incident commanders requested additional help with the fire, due to extreme heat.
Ms. Clark tells 939 the Eagle that there were no injuries to civilians from the fire. Smoke could be seen across downtown. CFD says a total of 42 firefighters responded to the fire involving 11 fire companies.
